Google keeps expanding the capabilities of its Gemini AI and adding new integrations. According to the latest data, the company is working on Gemini's ability to interact with Google Maps, helping users to get more information about different places.

Here's What We Know

This feature has not yet been officially confirmed, but it was discovered during the analysis of the Google app APK file (version 16.4.35) by Android Authority. This means that Google may change or cancel the feature before it is launched.

Gemini already has a number of extensions to integrate with other Google services, such as Google Messages, Google Flights, YouTube, as well as third-party apps, including Spotify and WhatsApp. Gemini's integration with Google Maps is set to get a significant boost.

The new version of the app has a new interface element in the form of a chip with the inscription "Ask about place". It will allow users to ask Gemini questions about selected locations, similar to the "Ask about screen" and "Ask about video" functions. For example, they can ask about opening hours, available services, or directions to a location.

The screenshots show that after clicking on the chip, the URL of the location is automatically inserted into the text field, after which the user can ask a question.

It is not yet known when and if Google will launch this feature. However, it looks useful and is already sufficiently developed to become available to users in the near future.
