Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is being tested with an under-screen selfie camera, an insider says
Samsung's latest flagship Galaxy S25 Ultra has yet to hit shop shelves, and it's already being reported that the company has started testing a prototype of the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which could be the company's first smartphone without a visible camera on the display.
Here's What We Know
According to insider @kro_roe at X, the new S26 Ultra prototype features an under-screen camera technology that allows for a "full-screen" display without cutouts or holes.
However, despite the promise, the introduction of this technology could face image quality issues. Samsung already uses similar technology in its foldable flagship Galaxy Fold 6, which has a 4 MP camera underneath the main display. Nevertheless, image quality remains a key factor, and many comparisons show that the current technology doesn't always deliver high quality pictures.
Interestingly, Apple also tested this technology but did not implement it in its devices due to similar issues. At the same time, Samsung probably also has a regular prototype of the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which could be chosen for mass production due to fewer complications.
While the Galaxy S26 Ultra rumours are interesting, it's worth treating them with caution as these are just early prototypes and a lot can change before the official release.
