Dune: Awakening was designed with the gamepad in mind from the start: however, the game will be released only on PC at first

The developers from Funcom have announced that their upcoming MMO Dune: Awakening will be released on PC first, but it was designed with gamepad usage in mind from the very beginning. The game's producer, Nils Ryborg, noted that this approach makes it easier to adapt the game for consoles in the future.

Here's What We Know

Ryborg, who previously worked on the console port of Pillars of Eternity, stressed that the development with a gamepad focus from the very beginning simplifies the process of porting the game to other platforms. He noted that creating a game with gamepad support from the very beginning avoids the difficulties that arise when adapting PC games for consoles.

Although the exact date of Dune: Awakening's release on PC has not been announced yet, it could be this year.

Dune: Awakening is a large-scale multiplayer MMO game by Funcom, set in the iconic Dune universe created by Frank Herbert. The game is set on the planet Arrakis, where players will explore dangerous deserts, fight for resources and develop their factions. Players will be able to create their own bases, defend them from sandworms and other players, and interact with the world's political and economic systems to become the dominant force on Arrakis.

The game combines elements of survival and PvP battles in an open world, allowing players to immerse themselves in a ruthless struggle for power and survival, recreating the atmosphere and aesthetics of Dune.
