EA and Maxis have announced the release of a patch for the Legacy versions of The Sims 1 and The Sims 2, which were released on 31 January 2025. After the launch, players encountered numerous issues, including crashes and glitches, which led to negative reviews on Steam.
Here's What We Know
The development team acknowledged the problems and promised to fix them quickly. As promised, a detailed list of fixes for both games was published yesterday.
Players who want to enjoy the classic life simulations again can now expect fewer crashes.
Major fixes for The Sims 1:
- Fixed issues with Alt+Tab and Alt+Enter that could cause crashes.
- The game should now crash less often.
- Fixed issues with the display of parts of the neighbourhood map.
Major fixes for The Sims 2:
- Fixed errors occurring when creating a family.
- Reduced the number of cases when Sims disappeared after moving between locations.
- Fixed issues with infinite downloads.
However, there are still plenty of problems in the games, so you should expect the next patches in the future.
