Lockheed Martin has been awarded a $551 million contract to equip US Navy submarines with the AN/BLQ-10 electronic warfare system.

Here's What We Know

The contract provides for the supply of the AN/BLQ-10 system and engineering and technical support. The work will be performed at Lockheed's New York plant and is scheduled to be completed by January 2030. If all option clauses are exercised, the value of the deal could increase to $1.4 billion.

The AN/BLQ-10 is designed to provide submarine crews with enhanced situational awareness, especially in coastal areas with high electromagnetic activity. The system analyses hostile, neutral and friendly signals to help identify threats and prevent friendly fire. It also includes displays of threats, mission, geographic data, and identification veracity.

Lockheed said the AN/BLQ-10 provides critical analysis in a dynamic environment at an affordable price.
