Warner Bros. has put more than 30 older films on YouTube with free access

Film studio Warner Bros. has begun releasing its older films for free on YouTube, in an unexpected twist to the company's strategy for managing its back catalogue.

Here's What We Know

Over the past month, more than 30 feature films have been uploaded to five YouTube channels without digital rights management. The collection includes "Michael Collins," "Heat in the City," "The Adventures of Pluto Nash," "Chaos Theory," "Waiting for Guffman," "The Wind and the Lion," "American Ninja V," "Mutiny on the Bounty," "Dungeons & Dragons," "Lionheart" and "Deathtrap."

Warner Bros. owns several distribution channels, including streaming service Max and Turner Classic Movies, which makes the decision to release these films freely on YouTube particularly noteworthy. Users will be able to enjoy the licensed films for free, although there will be ads on the videos. It's important to note that access to the content may depend on the region where you live.
