Combined sales of Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X are likely to be in the range of 27-29 million, suggests Take-Two
Xbox Series sales are largely based on estimates and assumptions, as Microsoft has not provided official figures for its hardware. However, Take-Two Interactive's quarterly earnings report provides some insight into the situation. According to the report, as of November 2024, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series together have sold more than 94 million units worldwide.
Here's What We Know
With over 65.5 million units sold as of 30 September 2024, it is likely that PlayStation 5 sales will be around 67-69 million units by November. This means that sales of the Xbox series could be in the range of 27-29 million units.
Although these estimates are not precise, they give a rough idea of the state of Microsoft's hardware. Last year, analysts suggested that Xbox Series shipments could exceed 28 million units by June. The latest official update from Microsoft, published in June 2023, reports 21 million units sold worldwide.
This estimate doesn't paint a perfect picture for the Xbox, especially when compared to the higher numbers of the PlayStation. However, it is important to note that Microsoft's approach to hardware sales may be different from Sony's, where there is a greater focus on services and Game Pass.
