New evidence suggests that Samsung has made significant progress in developing the Exynos 2600 processor and may return to using its own chips in the Galaxy S26 series.

Here's What We Know

As reported by Korean publication The Bell, production of the Exynos 2600, which is being developed on the latest 2nm process, is already performing better than the previous Exynos 2500, achieving a 30 per cent yield in test production. This is a significant improvement over the Exynos 2500, which was excluded from the S25 series due to low chip yield issues.

As previously reported, the Exynos 2500 chip had a low yield, with only 20 per cent of year-old chips out of the total, while the minimum for mass production is 60 per cent. Therefore, Samsung ended up using the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip for all Galaxy S25 models.

Samsung plans to start mass producing the Exynos 2600 in the second half of 2025, which could improve performance by 12% and energy efficiency by 25%. If all goes well, the Galaxy S26 could feature this processor, allowing Samsung to lower end-product prices and improve profitability.
