Ready At Dawn studio co-founder Andrea Pessino shared details about an unsuccessful attempt to create a sequel to The Order: 1886. According to him, although the game received high marks in internal reviews, its average score on Metacritic was only 63 points, which was the reason for Sony's refusal to sequel.

Here's What We Know

Pessino noted that the game needed at least one more year of development, but due to the deadline, a lot of content had to be cut or turned into cinematic inserts. He believes that if the average score of the game was at least in the range of 70-79, Sony would have agreed to continue.

It was planned that the sequel would be released in 2018 and have an online mode. However, due to negative reviews and low scores of the original game, these plans were not implemented.

After that, Ready At Dawn focused on the development of VR games such as Lone Echo and Echo Arena, and in 2020, the studio was acquired by Meta. Unfortunately, the studio was closed last year.

The Order: 1886 had the potential to become an interesting franchise, but the circumstances were not in its favour.
