The South Korean Ministry of Defence said that North Korea has transferred 200 long-range artillery units to Russia and will continue to do so.

Here's What We Know

According to Yonhap, this was stated by the South Korean Ministry of Defence during a briefing for the parliamentary defence committee. Seoul emphasises that the DPRK is likely to continue sending troops, weapons and ammunition to Russia.

"North Korea has provided about 11,000 troops, missiles, 200 long-range artillery pieces and a significant amount of ammunition, and it is likely that the DPRK will continue to supply troops, weapons and ammunition," the South Korean ministry said.

It is expected that in 2024, North Korea will double the pace of development of modern weapons, including nuclear submarines, spy satellites and solid-fueled intercontinental ballistic missiles.

As for the DPRK's relations with the United States, Seoul believes that Pyongyang is trying to create favourable conditions for negotiations with Washington through harsh rhetoric and provocations. For example, North Korea did not respond to Donald Trump's statement about the possible resumption of relations, but instead conducted missile tests and organised Kim Jong-un's visit to a nuclear materials production base.

Earlier, the head of the Defence Ministry's Defence Intelligence, Kirill Budanov, said that in 2024 the DPRK would transfer 150 more KN-23 short-range ballistic missiles to Russia.
