YouTube to open access to automatic dubbing for all authors

YouTube CEO Neil Mohan said in his annual address "Our Big Bets for 2025" that artificial intelligence will become a key area of development for the platform. One of the main innovations is automatic video dubbing, which will soon be available to all authors in the YouTube partner programme.

Here's What We Know

The dubbing feature was introduced back in December last year. It detects the language of a video and creates audio tracks in other languages. Initially, it was only available for educational channels, but this month it will be available to all members of the partner programme.

This tool will help authors expand their audience and attract viewers who do not know the original language of the video. Automatic dubbing will be available in the advanced settings of YouTube Studio. Initially, nine languages will be supported: English, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish. Videos in English can be dubbed into all of these languages, while videos in other languages can be dubbed into English only. In the future, YouTube promises to add more languages and improve the quality of dubbing.

YouTube also plans to improve its podcasting platform. New tools for monetisation and simplified search for podcasts will soon be available. According to Mohan, YouTube remains the most popular podcasting platform in the US. YouTube Premium users will get new benefits such as improved sound and faster playback.
