MG Motor has recently been increasingly using new internal combustion engines instead of electric engines in Europe. These petrol engines are not subject to increased EU duties, which only apply to electric cars from China. The petrol versions of the MG3 and MG ZS are another addition to the model range.

Here's What We Know

Until recently, the small hatchback and compact crossover were available in Germany only with hybrid drive and automatic transmission. Such cars are shown in the photo below. Now versions with internal combustion engine and manual transmission become basic. The absence of electrification allowed to reduce prices by 2000 euros:

  • MG3 starts from 17,990 euros
  • MG ZS starts from €20,990.

The 1.5-litre direct injection atmospheric engine develops 116 hp (85 kW). This four-cylinder engine is already available for MG models in other regions. Drive is exclusively front-wheel drive and the transmission is a 5-speed manual. Models with automatic transmission will remain in the hybrid variant.

The base version of the MG3 is offered in the colour "Pastel Yellow". For an additional 650 euros, the colours available are Dover White, Como Blue, Hampstead Grey, Cosmic Silver, Pebble Black and Diamond Red. Basic equipment includes a reversing camera, air conditioning, infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and DAB+ radio, and MG Pilot driver assistance systems including Lane Keeping Assist (LKA).

The entry-level MG ZS is available in the colour Emerald Green. Available in Pebble Black, Cosmic Silver, Diamond Red, Como Blue, Hampstead Grey and Dover White colours for an additional charge. Standard equipment includes halogen headlights, 16-inch steel wheels, rear parking sensors with camera, 10.25-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, MG Pilot driver assistance system including Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) and Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM).

Sales of both models will start in March 2025 through 150 MG dealerships in Germany.
