Norway to allocate NOK 1.2 billion to strengthen Ukraine's air defence
Norway will allocate approximately NOK 1.2 billion (over USD 100 million) to strengthen Ukraine's air defence.
Here's What We Know
The funds will be used to purchase relevant equipment from the United States through the JUMPSTART mechanism. This was announced by Norwegian Defence Minister Tore Sandvik to the Ukrainian delegation during a meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine's Defence in the Ramstein format.
These costs are part of the 22.5 billion kroner that Norway plans to allocate for military support to Ukraine in 2025 through the Nansen Programme. Sandvik stressed that air defence remains a priority for Ukraine, as it is critical to protecting the military, civilian infrastructure and the population.
It is worth recalling that in 2024, Norway has already provided Ukraine with air defence equipment worth more than NOK 6 billion. In addition, the country has officially joined the International Drone Coalition for Ukraine. Earlier, Norway contributed NOK 700 million to a multinational drone procurement initiative, and in 2025 plans to allocate additional funds for drones and unmanned technologies through the Nansen Programme.
