Ilon Musk has announced that his startup xAI is preparing to release Grok 3, a new chatbot that he says outperforms existing artificial intelligence models. Speaking at the World Government Summit in Dubai, Musk cited internal tests showing superior reasoning capabilities compared to current artificial intelligence systems.

Here's What We Know

Grok 3 is in the final stages of finalisation and will be released in one to two weeks, he said. "Sometimes I think Grok 3 is frighteningly smart," Musk noted in his statement. During the video conference, he discussed his work on artificial intelligence, his conflict with former partner Sam Altman of OpenAI, and his plans to "remove entire agencies" of the U.S. federal government.

Musk stressed that the new xAI model has been trained on synthetic data and is able to analyse its mistakes in an effort to achieve logical consistency. Musk also criticised OpenAI, saying that the company, originally conceived as an open-source non-profit organisation, is now focused on maximising profits. Musk concluded by joking that he hopes artificial intelligence will be benevolent in the future.
