Okami 2 will continue the story of the original game - you can expect the return of old characters

After Capcom announced the new Okami, directed by Hideki Kamiya and developed by the newly created Clovers studio, speculations quickly emerged. The company confirmed that the game is being developed on the RE Engine, and producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi told IGN that its story will be a continuation of the original game.

Amaterasu, the protagonist of the first Okami, will also return. Although her appearance in the trailer made it seem likely, some uncertainty remained due to the fact that her son, Chibiterasu, appeared in Okamiden. Regarding whether there would be a sequel to the 2010 Nintendo DS game, Hirabayashi said that the team was aware of the game's fanbase and the feedback it had received about its story. He explained that although some elements of Okamiden may not have met the expectations of the audience, the upcoming sequel will be created strictly as a continuation of the original Okami.
