General Dynamics upgrades Stryker armoured vehicles for the US Army

General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS) intends to improve the armoured protection of the Stryker combat vehicle used by the US Army.
Here's What We Know
Functional analysis of the new armour technology will be conducted over the next six months using DEVCOM Ground Systems Centre (GVSC) expertise, including armour designs, integration schemes and strength test results.
The project is part of GVSC's Stryker Enhanced Armour (SEA) programme, which aims to improve the platform's defence capability. The programme provides improved crew protection and minimises threats from residual damage after active defence systems have been activated.
In FY2023, the SEA programme was transferred from GVSC to the Vehicle Protection Systems (VPS) Product Manager, which ensured the technology's transition from research to combat use.
The following year, the project was handed over to the Stryker Brigade Combat Team programme manager, who contracted with GDLS to integrate the enhanced armour protection into future Stryker platforms.
VPS manager Brad Monhout noted that a coordinated and planned introduction of the technology is essential to fully equip military units with modern protective equipment.
