Team Ninja is not slowing down: the studio is working on Rise of the Ronin (PC release in March), Ninja Gaiden 2 Black and the long-awaited Ninja Gaiden 4. Meanwhile, the Nioh series continues to sell successfully - Koei Tecmo founder and CEO Yoichi Erikawa confirmed that both games together have sold almost 8 million copies.

Here's What We Know

The previous significant milestone was recorded in October 2022, when sales exceeded 7 million. In an interview with Denfamicogame, Erikawa noted that about 90% of the copies were sold in Europe and North America. He also drew attention to the growing popularity of historical dramas and video games, mentioning the SHOGUN series from Disney+.

The original Nioh was released in 2017 on PlayStation 4 and later appeared on PC and PlayStation5. Nioh 2, released in 2020, received high critical acclaim for its complexity and deep combat system. Many of these mechanics were carried over to Rise of the Ronin.
