Gemini's Deep Research feature is now available on smartphones

Google has announced an extension to its Deep Research tool for the Gemini app on Android, which is now available to all Gemini Advanced users on Android and iOS.

How To Switch It On

To use this feature, select the "1.5 Pro with Deep Research" option from the drop-down menu. Then enter your query and the tool will provide a preliminary report outline. You can edit this outline or click "start research" and Gemini will start collecting information from the Internet.

According to Google, the report is created within 5-10 minutes, but for more complex queries, it can take longer. If you leave the chat, you will receive a notification when the report is ready.

Preliminary reviews show a mixed attitude towards the new tool. Some users say it's useful for simple topics, but others say it may not be effective for more complex queries, such as stock market analysis.

Google is not the only company offering such a tool. OpenAI also recently launched its own Deep Research feature, which is based on the OpenAI o3 model and promises to generate a detailed report within 30 minutes.
