Overwatch 2 Season 15 has begun, bringing with it loot boxes and a new perk system

Blizzard Entertainment has announced significant changes to Overwatch 2 with the start of Season 15, which began on 18 February 2025. The main innovations include the return of loot boxes and the introduction of a perk system for all heroes.
Here's What We Know
Loot boxes are available in the game again and can be obtained for free by completing weekly tasks or through a battle pass. Players can earn up to three loot boxes each week by completing up to 27 games. In addition, the free version of the battle pass comes with one legendary loot box, and the premium version has two additional loot boxes.
There is also a new perk system that allows players to improve the abilities of their heroes during the match. As players gain experience on quests, they can choose between two minor perks at the second level and two major perks at the third level. Minor perks provide small improvements, while major perks can significantly change the hero's abilities or add new ones.
At the same time, ranks were reset in the competitive mode, and the Hanaoka and Throne of Anubis cards were removed from the rotation.
