Shuhei Yoshida, who recently left PlayStation after a 30-year career, commented on Xbox's decision to port its games to PS5, considering it beneficial for owners of the Sony console.

Here's What We Know

In an interview with Sacred Symbols+, Yoshida said: "I suspect that Microsoft is the largest publisher on PlayStation." He added that given the installed base of Xbox, it is only natural to understand their actions.

Sales of the Xbox Series have been declining in recent years, and the acquisition of major publishers such as Bethesda and Activision has forced the company to look for new sources of revenue. Yoshida suggested that Microsoft is refocusing on Game Pass, which is in line with the company's DNA. He noted that Microsoft products such as Office 365 are available everywhere, and they probably hope that Game Pass will also be available everywhere in the future.

According to Yoshida, Sony is unlikely to allow Game Pass in its current form on the PlayStation 5, as it will affect revenues from its own subscriptions and sales of third-party games. However, if the model is similar to EA Play, which only includes games published by Microsoft, it may receive approval from the Japanese giant in the future.

"I think it's beneficial for PlayStation owners," Yoshida concluded about Microsoft's decision to release its games on PS55. "They will have access to games that they didn't have access to before. "5
