Mitsubishi Motors Europe has announced the revival of the Grandis model. In the portfolio of the Japanese manufacturer already had a seven-seat MPV of its own design with this name - it was produced from 2003 to 2011. However, the new Grandis will be a renamed version of the compact SUV Renault Symbioz.

Here's What We Know

The name Grandis comes from a Latin word meaning "big" and "impressive". According to the company's press release, it was chosen to reflect the spacious interior space and "powerful, confident look" with a reinterpretation of Mitsubishi Motors' signature "Dynamic Shield" design on the front and signature "Hexaguard Horizon" rear design. Fresh teasers show the grille and tailgate of the Grandis, which is expected to share much of its bodywork and interior design with the 4.4-metre Renault Symbioz (pictured below).

The Grandis will get a suite of driving assistance systems (ADAS) and in-built Google services. The car will be available with mild hybrid (MHEV) and full hybrid (HEV) powertrains. Mitsubishi has confirmed that the Grandis will be unveiled in July, and is scheduled to enter European markets in late autumn 2025.

The Grandis will later be joined by an as yet unnamed compact crossover with an all-electric powertrain. It will be Mitsubishi's version of the Renault Scenic E-Tech.
