US-based Micron has confirmed that the new flagship Galaxy S25 series smartphones will use Micron's LPDDR5X DRAM and UFS 4.0 memory chips. Earlier there were rumours that Samsung may not use its own chips, and now this has been confirmed.

Here's What We Know

Micron said that their chips are made using the advanced 1β process and are optimised to run at lower voltages, which increases battery life for devices. This could be the first time Samsung is using third-party chips for its flagship smartphones, which is a major blow to Samsung Semiconductor's business.

Samsung decided to use memory chips from Micron in the Galaxy S25 smartphones because of their better performance and efficiency. After making a comparison, Micron's chips were found to be more efficient and productive compared to Samsung's own chips. This decision is also due to the fact that Micron chips are manufactured using a more advanced process, which allows them to operate at lower voltage levels and increase the battery life of the devices
