Kia has decided to add some drama to the world of electric cars. According to Carscoops, every version of the upcoming Kia EV4 will get a simulated manual gearshift - the same as the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N and Kia EV6 GT. And the most powerful version - the EV4 GT - will also get a fake rev limiter.

Here's What We Know

Kia and Hyundai have been experimenting for several years with ways to make electric cars more interesting for drivers. One of these solutions is the mode of imitation of manual gear shifting: drivers can "shift" virtual gears with paddles, and the system corrects the output so as to resemble the behaviour of an internal combustion engine.

Previously, this option seemed exclusive to the most powerful Hyundai-Kia models, but it will soon become standard on all Kia EV4s, even the basic ones.

At the same time, EV4 GT buyers will get another bonus - a simulated rev cut-off. It will work in the same way as in the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N: when "reaching the red zone" the driver will have to change gear to maintain optimum acceleration. In the Ioniq 5 N, this system is complemented by a synthetic engine sound and even simulated traction dips when shifting gears, and the EV4 GT will probably have something similar.

Recall that Kia has already shown the exterior of the EV4 in sedan and hatchback versions - they are almost identical to the 2023 concept. The full debut of the model will take place on 27 February at Kia EV Day 2025 in Spain, where the company will reveal more about the technical part and interior.
