Here's What We Know
According to Babel, citing Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez during the International Summit in Support of Ukraine in Kyiv, the new package will include military equipment, artillery ammunition, and other military equipment.
Sánchez stressed that Spain supports Ukraine's sovereignty and that peace must be long-term, just and comprehensive. He also noted that Kyiv should take part in discussions on ending the war and put forward its own conditions.
It should be noted that Spain has been actively helping Ukraine with armoured vehicles, ammunition and artillery since the start of the full-scale invasion. In particular, the country handed over 20 Leopard 2A4 tanks repaired at the Santa Barbara Sistemas plant in Seville, as well as a battery of Hawk anti-aircraft missile systems.
Spain was the first country to transfer the MIM-23 Hawk air defence system to Ukraine in 2022. These systems are also supplied by the United States and are used to defend cities and strategic sites from Russian cruise missiles and drones.
