A wait that lasts forever: Matt Reeves still hasn't turned in the final script for The Batman Part II
Peter Safran, co-chairman of DC Studios, announced the state of development of The Batman Part II, noting that director Matt Reeves has not yet completed the final script.
Here's What We Know
At the DC Studios event, Safran and James Gunn expressed their excitement about Reeves' vision for the film and noted that they are waiting for the script to be completed. Although Reeves has not yet handed over the final draft, they liked what they had read earlier. The film is now scheduled for an October 2027 release after several delays.
Robert Pattinson confirmed that the film will begin shooting later this year. While the lack of a completed script raises some questions about the length of development, Reeves is taking the time to ensure the film is of a high quality.
The sequel, like the first film and the Penguin series, will be in its own separate universe that is not part of the DCU. Now we just have to wait for him to complete the script and start the filming process.
