DC believes that Clayface's story is more horrifying than the Joker's or Penguin's, so the upcoming film about Batman's enemy may resemble a horror
Peter Safran, co-chairman of DC Studios, believes that Clayface is even scarier than some of Batman's most famous enemies, such as the Penguin and the Joker. Therefore, the upcoming film may almost resemble a horror.
Here's What We Know
The film, which is currently in development, promises to be a horror thriller with elements of tragedy. The project is directed by James Watkins, known for his work on horror films such as Speak No Evil.
The script is written by Mike Flanagan, who previously worked on projects such as The Haunting of Hill House and Doctor Sleep.
The Clayface is not as well known as Penguin or the Joker, but we believe his story is just as deeply resonant, gripping, and even more terrifying
The Clayface first appeared in Detective Comics #40 in June 1940. The film will tell the story of an actor who uses a substance to change his appearance, but becomes living clay. The premiere is expected on 11 September 2026.
