Yesterday there was unexpected news about the closure of Monolith Productions. The studio worked on the action game Wonder Woman, but became world famous thanks to the F.E.A.R. shooter series.

Polish digital shop GOG appreciated the contribution of American developers to the development of the game industry and made a noble gesture.

Here's What We Know

GOG announced that the full edition of the shooter F.E.A.R. along with two add-ons (F.E.A.R. Platinum) will become part of the GOG Preservation Programme in March. This means that GOG is committed to improving the technical state of the game, making it compatible with modern platforms and maintaining it in such a state, responding to emerging problems.

The addition of F.E.A.R. to the GOG Preservation Programme was planned for a little later, but the closure of Monolith Studios accelerated the process.

At GOG, we believe in celebrating the creative minds that have shaped gaming history. Monolith Productions gave players some of the most memorable experiences, combining innovative gameplay with rich storytelling. To honour their legacy, we are proud to announce that F.E.A.R. Platinum will join the GOG Preservation Programme - sooner than planned, and in time it will be joined by other Monolith icons.

The first part of F.E.A.R. was released in 2005 and offered gamers an excellent combination of horror and dynamic shooter with the possibility of spectacular time slowdown. The game for many years set a certain trend for such shooters.
