Civilisation development is just beginning: Firaxis has published a release plan for updates and add-ons for Sid Meier's Civilization VII 4X strategy game

Studio Firaxis Games has published a plan of the nearest updates of 4X-strategy Sid Meier's Civilisation VII, which was released in February and received mixed reviews.

Here's What We Know

American developers plan to significantly improve the strategy, eliminating the flaws, and will add a lot of new content to it.

The roadmap for Sid Meier's Civilisation VII is as follows:

4 March - patch 1.1.0, which includes:

  • a new wonder of the world, the Bermuda Triangle;
  • interface improvements;
  • changes to the path of victory and cultural heritage in the modern era;
  • the ability to transform sacred cities in the Age of Discovery;
  • enhancements to naval units;
  • rebalancing of a number of gameplay systems;
  • fixing discovered problems with multiplayer and adding friends from a 2K account;
  • restoration of crossplay between PC and consoles.

Along with the patch release, Firaxis will release the first half of the paid DLC Crossroads of the World - it will feature Carthage (Antiquity) and Great Britain (Modernity), four wonders of the world and a new leader Ada Lovelace.

25 March - patch 1.1.1, which includes the following:

  • a new wonder of the world, Everest;
  • more interface improvements;
  • AI improvements;
  • quick action feature;
  • the ability to change the names of cities and Commanders;
  • improved map generation;
  • there will be a restart button to restart map generation.

On the same day the second part of Crossroads of the World DLC will be released. It will add Bulgaria (Age of Discovery) and Nepal (Modern), as well as Simón Bolívar as a new leader.

Patch 1.2.0 is scheduled for release in April. There are few details about it yet, except that:

  • the interface will be improved;
  • there will be a function to continue the game after the end of the modern era;
  • new resource types will be added;
  • expand the functionality of teams in multiplayer.

In addition, gamers can expect the following innovations in 2025:

  • new map sizes on all platforms except Switch;
  • auto-explore feature;
  • official support for custom modifications;
  • local multiplayer support for playing on a single device;
  • additional customisation and AI improvements.

Sid Meier's Civilisation VII is available on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. A VR version for the Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S headsets will be released in the spring.
