Back in 2023, there were fears of layoffs at Germany's Rolls-Royce Power Systems (RRPS), a subsidiary of Britain's Rolls-Royce. But instead of a crisis, 2024 has been a record year for the engine manufacturer.

Here's What We Know

Against a backdrop of problems in the engineering and automotive industries, the company managed to achieve record revenues, surpassing the €5bn mark. RRPS claims that it achieved the greatest growth in the area of data centre power supply products. The company also benefited from contracts in the defence industry. Among other things, RRPS produces engines for tanks and warships, which has become a profitable business in the current geopolitical situation.

RRPS CEO Jörg Stratmann said that orders have reached 6 billion euros, which gives confidence for further growth in 2025.

Record bonuses for employees

Things are so good that the company has decided to share the success with employees. Around 6,150 employees in Friedrichshafen will each receive a €2,000 bonus. This is the largest single payment in the history of RRPS and it is also being extended to the company's other German subsidiaries.

HR Director Thelse Godewerth announced the news at a press conference, noting that the news was announced to the team just hours before the official publication of the company's results.

Rolls-Royce Power Systems AG

Rolls-Royce Power Systems AG is a German company owned by Rolls-Royce Holdings that owns the engine brands and businesses. The company was previously traded as Tognum AG from 2006 to 2014. Until 2006, the main company, MTU Friedrichshafen, was part of DaimlerChrysler Powersystems Off-Highway.
