Geely has unveiled its own autonomous driving system, G-Pilot, which will be available in all models across its brands including Galaxy, Zeekr and LynkCo. Geely has become the third manufacturer in China, after BYD and Chery, to announce the introduction of an automated driving system across its entire model range.

Here's What We Know

The G-Pilot system is available in five levels of sophistication offering automatic parking, driving assistance on motorways and city streets, and NOA (Navigation on Autopilot) door-to-door:

  • G-Pilot H1
  • G-Pilot H3
  • G-Pilot H5
  • G-Pilot H7
  • G-Pilot H9

The basic version provides motorway and parking assistance, 10 cameras and 5 millimetre radars. The H5 version has already 11 cameras, 3 radars and a lidar that allows you to drive in the city without HD maps. The H9 version received several lidars and the possibility of upgrading to a full-fledged "autopilot", which can self-drive the car in various conditions.

The first car to receive G-Pilot is the Geely Galaxy E8 electric sedan, priced from 149,800 yuan (~$20,600). The base version has a 400-volt architecture, rear-wheel drive and a single 272bhp motor. The top version has an 800-volt system, all-wheel drive, and two motors with a combined output of 646 hp. Range: 550-665 kilometres in the Chinese CLTC cycle.
