Atomfall developer assures that the game will not have "two identical playthroughs"
The post-apocalyptic genre has provided many unforgettable experiences over the years, and Rebellion, the developer of Sniper Elite, is set to bring a distinctly British approach with Atomfall. The game, which will be released this month, takes place after a fire at the Windscale station, when players wake up with no memory and no clear goals.
Here's What We Know
In an extended gameplay demo, Design Director Ben Fisher spoke in detail about the game's impact, mechanics, and structure. Unlike traditional quest systems, Atomfall prioritises investigation and following leads. One of the first clues appears in a phone booth, inspired by the real-life experience of Rebellion CEO Jason Kingsley. However, players can ignore it and explore as they see fit.
The game offers a non-linear narrative where interaction with characters is completely optional. Players can uncover the secrets of the quarantined village, try to escape, or take a more destructive approach. Fisher stressed that there are no two identical ways to play the game, even among the development team.
Where To Play
Atomfall will be available on Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
When We Can Expect It
The game is scheduled for release on the 27th of March.
