US restricts transfer of intelligence to Ukraine needed for strikes deep into Russia
The United States has suspended the transfer of intelligence to Ukraine concerning targets in Russia, but is considering sharing the data again in due course.
Here's What We Know
According to CIA Director John Ratcliffe, Donald Trump has decided to temporarily restrict data sharing to assess President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's position on the peace process. These restrictions may be lifted after a statement from the Ukrainian leader.
However, Sky News reports that intelligence support has not stopped completely. Ukraine continues to receive information about Russian troops in the occupied territories. However, Washington has selectively restricted the transfer of data that could be used for strikes on Russian territory.
In addition, the Trump administration has halted the supply of US weapons to Ukraine, including weapons that have not yet been shipped, as well as those already on the way or in transit in Poland.
According to Bloomberg, the shipments will resume when Trump recognises that the Ukrainian government has demonstrated a "good faith commitment to peace".
