Ballistic Moon studio, the developer of Until Dawn remake, is actually closed
The British studio Ballistic Moon, which was developing a remake of Until Dawn, has effectively ceased operations. After large-scale layoffs in September and December 2024, only its founders and a few employees remained in the studio.
Here's What We Know
In September 2024, Ballistic Moon confirmed the dismissal of about 40 employees, and in December, another wave of layoffs affected 20 people. Now the studio has no employees in the development, marketing, or PR teams.
The studio's management tried to find new investors and sign contracts, but these efforts were unsuccessful. As a result, support for Until Dawn, including bug fixes, has been suspended. One source noted that players report bugs, but no one fixes them.
The main reason for the financial difficulties was the lack of new projects and funding. The studio was unable to secure a stable future after the release of the Until Dawn remake in October 2024, which sold low.
In addition, former employees recall problems with pay, including weeks of unpaid overtime. This further complicated the situation for the employees and the studio as a whole.
Although Ballistic Moon formally still exists, its operations have effectively ceased. There is a possibility that if the studio finds a new investor, it will be able to resume work and start new projects. However, there are currently no official statements on this.
The lack of support for the Until Dawn remake and the termination of the studio's activities may mean that further projects in the franchise will be developed by other companies or even stopped altogether.
