Sony unexpectedly refunds some players for Civilisation VII, which suffers from bugs on PlayStation 5

PlayStation 5 players are reporting the possibility of receiving a full refund for Civilisation VII, which was released just under a month ago. Despite the positive feedback about the game, many users complain about technical issues, especially in multiplayer mode.

Here's What We Know

According to Reddit, some PS5 players were able to get a full refund for Civilization VII. One of the users posted a part of the chat with PlayStation support, where he was approved for a refund.

While other players have confirmed successful refunds, some have reported rejections. This creates an ambiguous situation, as Sony usually strictly adheres to its refund policy. In general, it is almost impossible to get a refund for a PlayStation game, but some people have managed to do so.

A lot of complaints concern the multiplayer mode, which often encounters errors, crashes, and out-of-sync between players. One player noted that he was unable to complete more than 20 moves in several sessions due to constant technical problems.

At the same time, the single-player mode is more stable, with some users reporting that they were able to enjoy the game without any significant crashes.

Civilization VII is available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and other platforms from 11 February 2025. For PS5 owners, the questions remain: will the developers fix the bugs in the near future and will Sony continue to issue refunds?
