Steam has become half Chinese: 50% of players choose simplified Chinese
Steam's latest report shows that users who choose Simplified Chinese already account for more than 50% of the platform's total audience.
Here's What We Know
The growth in the number of Chinese users is partly due to the Chinese New Year celebrations, which traditionally leads to an increase in activity on the platform. However, this year's growth was significantly higher than the previous year.
Other growth factors included the success of games such as Black Myth: Wukong and the Mecha Break demo, which were very successful during Steam Next Fest. In addition, the success of NetEase games such as Marvel Rivals and the release of Monster Hunter Wilds in late February also contributed to this growth.
In general, Chinese developers are becoming more and more influential in the market, which affects such indicators.
