Ukrainian army starts installing anti-drone nets over important roads

The Ukrainian military has begun to set up special protective structures on roads near the front line to counter enemy drones. The relevant footage was posted by GirkinGirkin on social media platform X.
Here's What We Know
The images show that wooden poles have been installed along the roads, with a protective mesh stretched between them. One of these roads is likely to be located in Sumy region and has protection on the sides and top. The location of the other road is not disclosed.

Russian troops were the first to use such defences. They were first spotted in the summer of 2023 near Bakhmut, although at that time they were not solid tunnels but separate stretched nets designed to make drones get tangled in them. In 2024, the Russian military in the Kupiansk direction began to cover vehicle routes with fishing nets, creating safe corridors.
The fishing net is reportedly more effective than the Rabitz net because FPV drones can get tangled in it without detonation, which reduces the room for manoeuvre and makes it harder to hit vehicles.
