Lena Raine, the composer of the now cancelled Earthblade, has released an album with soundtracks for the game
Lena Raine, the composer of Celeste and Minecraft, has released a concept album for the now-cancelled Earthblade, a project from the developers of Celeste.
Here's What We Know
The game, which was a highly anticipated 2D action game, was cancelled by Extremely OK Games in January, despite a preview at The Game Awards in December 2022. In the wake of the game's cancellation, this album offers a glimpse of what Earthblade could have been.
Rhine, known for her work on Deltarune and Guild Wars 2, described the album as more than just a soundtrack. In the album description, she explained that Earthblade was several years in the making, during which she created many pieces representing the game's world. Not being able to share the game itself, Rein decided to compile the music into a concept album, aiming to tell her own version of the story.
The album, titled Earthblade - Across the Bounds of Fate, is available for purchase on Bandcamp. The music combines electronic and live instruments to create a dynamic and emotional journey. Rein notes that her compositions are influenced by such artists as Vangelis, Joe Hisaishi, and Yoko Kanno.
