Microtransactions have already appeared in the closed alpha test of Skate

Electronic Arts has introduced microtransactions in the closed alpha testing of Skate. Players will have access to the in-game currency San Van Bucks to purchase cosmetic items, which will be part of the preparation for the game's early access launch in 2025.
Here's What We Know
San Van Bucks is a new in-game currency that can be used to purchase cosmetic items in the Skate Shop. According to the developers from Full Circle, this feature was added to ensure a positive experience for players when purchasing items. The message to alpha testers reads:
"In order to achieve these early access goals, we have enabled the ability to purchase and use virtual currency in our current closed alpha test. Your feedback will be very valuable in creating a great experience at launch."
Interestingly, account progress may be reset before the early access launch. All purchases made with San Van Bucks will be converted back to the currency and available after the early access starts. Players will need to use the same EA account for testing and play after release.
Skate is the long-awaited relaunch of the popular franchise that has been on hiatus since 2010. The game will be free-to-play with microtransactions and will have a live-service model that will allow developers to add new content on a regular basis. The game is set in the fictional city of San Vanssterdam, where players will be able to participate in massive multiplayer events, build their own skate parks and perform tricks.
Skate is scheduled to launch in early access in 2025 for PC and consoles.
