David Baszucki, co-founder and CEO of the popular gaming platform Roblox, has said that parents who are concerned about their children's safety on the platform should limit their access to it. This statement comes amid growing concerns about possible bullying and access to inappropriate content on the platform, which is particularly popular among children aged 8 to 12.

Here's What We Know

Bazzuki stressed that the company is closely monitoring the safety of users by implementing strict monitoring measures, including artificial intelligence systems to analyse communications. He noted: "We believe that even one bad incident is one too many." The company is actively working to identify and prevent bullying and harassment, and cooperates with law enforcement agencies when necessary.

My first message: if you are concerned, do not let your children use Roblox

In response to criticism and concerns from parents, Roblox has implemented additional parental controls. Parents can now create their own accounts linked to their children's accounts, allowing them to set time limits, block access to certain game genres, and manage content through a new rating system. In addition, users under the age of 13 are prohibited from sending direct messages outside of games, and access to "social" spaces where communication with other players is possible is restricted.

Founded in 2004, Roblox has grown significantly in recent years, reaching more than 80 million daily players in 2024, of which about 40% were under the age of 13.

Bazzouki urged parents to be attentive to how their children use the platform and make informed decisions about allowing access to Roblox. He emphasised the importance of trusting parental decisions and stressed that the company will continue to work to ensure the safety and well-being of its users.
