The US Marine Corps has signed a 10-year contract worth $642 million with Anduril Industries for the supply, installation and maintenance of counter-unmanned aerial vehicle systems (CUAS).

Here's What We Know

Anduril's CUAS system uses artificial intelligence and autonomous technology to detect, track and destroy drones. It is based on the Lattice platform, which is powered by artificial intelligence and minimises operator involvement.

The system combines various sensors and effectors in a single control interface (C2), and its open architecture allows for rapid upgrades to adapt to new threats.

The contract complements a previous $200 million deal signed last November for the development of the CUAS Engagement System for Integrated Maritime Air Defence (MADIS).

In short, to meet the growing demand, Anduril has invested in the Arsenal-1 plant, which specialises in the production of autonomous systems on a large scale. Its software-driven model will allow for rapid deployment of CUAS and flexible adaptation to future defence needs.
