Google Pixel 9a tested before launch: ahead of Galaxy A56

Google is preparing to release a new mid-budget smartphone Pixel 9a, which has already appeared in the databases of popular benchmarks Geekbench and AnTuTu.

Here's What We Know

The test results show that the device has a significant advantage over its competitor, the Samsung Galaxy A56.

According to leaks from insider Sahil Karoul, the Pixel 9a is equipped with a Tensor G4 chip, scoring 1,530 points in the single-core Geekbench 6 test and 3,344 points in the multi-core test. In AnTuTu, the smartphone scored a total score of 1,049,844 points, of which 260,567 were attributed to the processor and 434,441 to the graphics module.

While the AnTuTu results are in line with the older Pixel 9 models, the Geekbench scores were lower. For comparison, the Tensor G4 in the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold models scores an average of 1,925 and 5,674 points in Geekbench tests. However, this may be due to the fact that the tested Pixel 9a is running on a software version that is not yet final.

Google's Tensor chips are often criticised for their weaker performance compared to MediaTek and Qualcomm solutions, but in the mid-range segment, they demonstrate competitive performance. In particular, the Pixel 9a outperforms the Galaxy A56, which, according to GSMArena, scores 1,364 and 3,899 points in Geekbench 6, as well as 908,689 points in AnTuTu.

The Pixel 9a is expected to be officially unveiled in the coming days, so all of its specifications and features will be revealed soon.
