Leak: Huawei to announce Kirin X90 processor by the end of March

Huawei's HiSilicon division is getting closer to the official announcement of its new processor, which is expected to compete with the Apple M3.

Here's What We Know

According to a new leak from a Digital Chat Station insider, the processor will be called Kirin X90 and will be part of the Kirin series. It is expected to hit the market at the end of March 2025.

The leak suggests that this chipset is designed for personal computers or laptops and uses an ARM-like instruction set, which is the basis for Apple's M-series. Although the processor may not have the same advanced features as Apple's new chips, particularly in terms of 5nm production, it is still capable of competing with the M3 line. In addition, reports indicate that the Kirin X90 may integrate DRAM, as the latest processors from Apple and Intel do.

In addition, the latest leak states that the processor has received Chinese security certification, confirming that it is ready for launch. According to the source, the chip is likely to be presented by the end of this month.

Huawei's HarmonyOS operating system has overtaken iOS in the Chinese market. According to Counterpoint Research, HarmonyOS holds 19% of the market, which is two percentage points more than iOS. Android continues to dominate in China with a 64% share in the fourth quarter of 2024.

Huawei has achieved this success ahead of an important event on 20 March 2025, when the company will unveil its first smartphone running the stable version of HarmonyOS NEXT.
