Starbreeze, the studio known for the PayDay series, is going through massive layoffs and closing its French division

Starbreeze, a company known for its Payday series, continues to reduce its staff. In recent months, about 15% of employees have been laid off, and now the French branch is under the threat of complete closure, 80.lv reports.
Here's What We Know
According to sources, most employees of the French branch will be fired by the end of March, and the rest - by June. The layoffs are taking place without a transparent explanation of economic reasons, which is causing outrage among employees. One of the French developers accused the company's management of violating French labour laws, in particular, of excluding employees from the company's general meeting.
Starbreeze's CEO, Mats Juhl, responded to these allegations by expressing concern about the open discussion of this topic in the company's internal chat room rather than through private communication channels. However, the employee responded that this approach was the most transparent and appropriate for explanations.
The French department mainly worked on updates and DLC. In addition, some of the dismissed employees were involved in the development of Project Baxter, a co-operative game in the Dungeons Dragons universe.
It all started with the total failure of PayDay 3, which severely shook the stability of Starbreeze.
