Hackers have found a way to hack the Xbox 360 with just a USB stick

Modders for the Xbox 360 have developed a new software exploit called BadUpdate that allows unsigned code and games to run on the console using just a USB stick. This method does not require opening the device, making it more accessible than previous methods such as RGH or JTAG.

The exploit exploits a vulnerability in Microsoft's hypervisor and requires a USB key, a special code and a trial version of the Rock Band Blitz game to activate. Once successfully launched, users can access the homebrew shop for games, apps, emulators and utilities. However, the method has limitations: it needs to be repeated every time the console is switched on, as well as manually patching executables.

Despite these difficulties, BadUpdate opens up new possibilities for Xbox 360 owners, allowing them to use the console to run custom software and expand its functionality.
