How to find out how much space Apple Intelligence takes up in macOS 15.4

In March 2025, the second beta version of macOS 15.4 was released, in which Apple changed the system settings to hide information about the amount of Apple Intelligence storage on Macs.

Here's What We Know

The company was accused of trying to hide the size of this technology. However, with the release of the fourth beta of macOS 15.4, Apple has made information about the size of Apple Intelligence available to users again.

How To Switch It On

Now, to see how much space Apple Intelligence takes up, you need to

  • go to System Preferences,
  • General,
  • Storage and
  • click the information button next to the macOS list.

A pop-up window will open showing the macOS version and the amount of memory that Apple Intelligence takes up. This works the same way as in the stable version of macOS Sequoia 15.3.2.

Here's What We Know

The absence of this information in the previous beta version was probably a mistake. Users who had System Integrity Protection (SIP) turned off could see this information without any problems, while others with SIP enabled were unable to see it.

SIP protects your Mac by preventing unauthorised code from running, and it can only be disabled in Recovery Mode. Disabling SIP is typically used by developers to test applications, while most users leave it enabled.

Apple claims that Apple Intelligence can use up to 7 GB of space on a Mac. However, on some devices in macOS Sequoia 15.4, this component takes up more space.

Apple Intelligence uses allocated memory to load machine learning models and works without the internet. Disabling this feature is the only way to save space on your Mac.
