Game Informer returns: the famous publication is fully relaunched, but their choice of partners is alarming

As promised, the famous edition of Game Informer, which since 1991 pleased gamers with interesting and informative materials and was closed in the summer of 2024, has announced important news.

Here's What We Know

Game Informer's editorial staff, headed by editor-in-chief Matt Miller, is back to work.

Actual news has already started to appearon their website, and the entire archive of articles is available again.

Game Informer was rescued by Gunzilla Games, a Ukrainian-German company with offices in Kyiv, Frankfurt and London. The new owner leaves Game Informer full freedom of action and expression of its positions and opinions in articles, reviews and videos.

Game Informer will soon announce details about the new format of its famous print edition, which will become "bigger and better".

And now for the sad part

The revival of Game Informer is certainly great news, but the reputation of Gunzilla Games raises a lot of questions. Yes, it was founded by Ukrainian businessmen, but it has been repeatedly accused of having ties to Russian oligarchs and laundering their money, as well as broadcasting pro-Russian narratives already during the full-scale invasion.

Due to allegations of criminal activity, Gunzilla Games founders Vlad Korolev and Alexander Zoll left Ukraine, with Korolev doing so illegally, and moved to Germany.

It was alleged that Korolev and Zoll's main goal was not to develop games, but to launder investments through the UAE for personal gain and to support their Russian partners. Even in Germany, their penchant for violence persisted, as evidenced by an incident in September 2022 when a Gunzilla Games employee was physically assaulted by Tsoll and Korolev after he decided to leave the company with his development team, leading to criminal charges.

Hopefully Game Informer made the right decision in their choice and won't regret it.
