Google has released several new features in Maps and Search that will help users plan their trips this summer. One of the main new features is the Gemini feature for screenshots in Google Maps.

Here's What We Know

When enabled, Google Maps will scan photos for screenshots from social media, news or blogs that mention places. In the new Screenshots section, you can view these images, and Gemini will automatically detect places and offer to save them. Gemini can find multiple locations in a single screenshot and provide more information about each.

The feature is currently only available on iOS (US English), but will be coming to Android later. It is disabled by default, and you need to allow access to photos.

Google has also updated its hotel search. Now you can track changes in hotel prices. To do this, you need to specify the dates, location and filters (for example, the number of stars), and then enable the Track hotel prices option. Users will be notified if hotel prices drop. This feature is already available on mobile devices and PCs worldwide.

Google Search is also adding new features for travel planning. Now you can get travel ideas not only for cities, but also for entire countries or regions. For example, you can request a route based on the nature of Costa Rica. In addition, Google Lens is expanding its language support and will now work not only in English, but also in Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish.

Google also recommends using the new free Gemini Gem feature to help you plan your trip.
