Fitbit has announced that by 2 February 2026, all users must switch to a Google account to continue using the company's services.

Here's What We Know

Previously, a separate account was used to access Fitbit, but after the acquisition by Google, all users can sign in through Google Account. This made the process easier and safer.

From 2 February 2026, if users do not migrate their account, their data will be deleted.

This applies to everyone except owners of new devices such as the Pixel Watch 2 and Fitbit Charge 6, which already work with Google Accounts.

To switch, update your Fitbit app to the latest version. In the settings, you will see an option to transfer your account. If you do not want to transfer your account, you can download or delete your data until 2026.

Last year, Google shut down the Fitbit website on 1 October. After that, all Fitbit products and services can be found only in the Google Store. At that time, a banner was placed on the Fitbit website with the announcement: "On 10/1, the Fitbit store is moving. Buy Fitbit on the Google Store".

Visitors would be able to find all Fitbit products in the Watches and Trackers section next to the popular Pixel Watch line. The new store also offered account management, support, and terms of use.

Recently, it became known that Fitbit is developing a compact gadget for measuring blood pressure on the finger.
