Five minutes of gameplay of action-RPG Blades of Fire has been unveiled - the footage shown does not inspire optimism
MercurySteam studio (author of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and Metroid Dread) and 505 Games published a detailed gameplay trailer of Blades of Fire. According to the previously presented materials gamers and journalists concluded that the game resembles a mixture of Dark Souls and God of War, but the new video allows to state a less optimistic point of view.
Here's What We Know
The gameplay demo confirmed that Blades of Fire indeed resembles the aforementioned games, but this does not apply to the quality of execution, as it is inferior to the famous landmarks in almost everything.
The developers presented five minutes of gameplay and showed how the protagonist Aran de Lira fights monsters using different weapons.
Unfortunately, Blades of Fire looks a bit outdated and reminds not the best games of 10-15 years ago, it has weak graphics, strange animations, low detail and huge interface that covers a significant part of the screen.
The situation can be saved by a well-thought-out combat system and potentially interesting mechanics of forging unique weapons, but whether this is enough for success is a big question.
Recall that in the storyline of Blades of Fire, the protagonist led the royal guard, but the new queen Nerea betrayed the people and cast a spell that turns steel into stone. Only her army of monsters possesses the divine metal, which other blades shatter. The protagonist will have to fight the queen's minions and forge weapons - this process will be the main feature of the game.
When We Can Expect It
Blades of Fire will be released on 22 May on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Epic Games Store).
Pre-order is already open.
