Google has announced that it is starting to roll out the Gemini 2.5 Pro experimental model to all users of the free Gemini version.

Here's What We Know

Gemini 2.5 Pro was introduced on Tuesday, 25 March as the "smartest" Google's AI model. It combines all advanced thinking capabilities in a single solution, without dividing into separate versions. Although the model is still being tested, it already supports apps, extensions, file uploads, and the Canvas feature.

Initially, Gemini 2.5 Pro was only available to Gemini Advanced subscribers, which costs $19.99 per month in the US via Google One AI Premium.

On Saturday, 29 March, Google announced that it has decided to make Gemini 2.5 Pro (experimental) available to all users. It is currently available at gemini.google.com and will soon be available in the Android and iOS apps, which have recently improved the memorisation of the selected model.

Google says it is committed to making Gemini 2.5 Pro (exp) available to more users as soon as possible. The model is a leader in the LMArena ranking, shows good results in mathematics and science, and also receives improvements for coding.

It is not yet known whether the stable version of 2.5 Pro will be free for everyone or whether it is only a test access. Previously, it was believed that 2.0 Flash Thinking and 2.0 Flash would remain free.

Google is gradually opening up more features to everyone, including Deep Research, Gems, and document analysis. The Advanced subscription still has an increased context window (1 million tokens) and higher limits.
